A Meditation for Holiday Mindfulness

Mindfulness doesn’t end when we roll up our yoga mat. It’s about engaging with our surroundings with each step. This is especially difficult around the holidays. Nobody puts it better than the Grinch:

It came without ribbons.

It came without tags.

It came without packages, boxes or bags.

And he puzzled and puzzled ‘till his puzzler was sore.

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.

What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store.

What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more...

Grab your headphones, take a walk through your neighborhood and pick out a pine tree sprig, a pinecone, a colorful leaf - anything you see to adorn a gift for a loved one this holiday season. Tie it with twine. Enjoy.
